Encrypted document vault for iPhone

Keep private documents and written notes in your encrypted iPhone vault. Import files, find them by name and save note edits with clear save and discard controls.

Documents and notes are different

Keep personal files beside your private photos, with their contents, names and library index encrypted. Import a document to store it as a file, or use Vaultary’s editable notes to write private text. The note editor gives you explicit save and discard controls. Imported documents remain separate from those notes.

Imported contentsDocument contents are encrypted in vault storage.Check that your document format opens correctly, including every page you need.
Names and library indexNames and the library index are encrypted with stored metadata.A revealing name may still exist in the source app, export destination or recipient’s system.
PreviewsOpen readable content on your unlocked iPhone.Someone who can see the screen can read the visible content. A screenshot creates another copy.
Source appsImport brings a copy across a storage boundary. The source app and its cloud, downloaded or recent-file copies have their own rules.
Edited notesSave text into encrypted storage or discard an unwanted edit. The note editor handles Vaultary notes, rather than editing imported Office files.
Exported files and recipientsA readable exported file can be opened outside the vault. That plaintext file and the recipient’s copies are outside vault storage protection.

Check the details your document depends on

  • Begin outside the vault. Choose a replaceable multipage PDF or document with distinct text on its first and last pages. Preserve a readable original separately.
  • Inspect beyond the first preview. Check page order, legibility and the last page. For notes, save a sample edit, close it and reopen it to confirm the text you intended to retain.
  • Open the export independently. Use a separate compatible reader for the exported document. Compare the meaningful content; a filename and export-success message alone are insufficient.
  • Try recovery as a separate operation. Follow the recovery principles with replaceable files and an empty destination. Preserve the sole copy of an official record elsewhere.

Keep storage and editing decisions clear

Choose Vaultary for encrypted file storage and private text notes. Support for every document format, Office editing, scanning or OCR is not promised. Keep a compatible reader and a readable copy of important records; encryption cannot make an unsupported format readable.

The private-documents guide follows files through source apps, downloads and recipients. Use it to decide which copies need attention outside the vault.

Leave yourself a readable exit

Before removing a source app or vault installation, use the export checklist. Keep the archive and its required recovery token accessible beyond the device it protects. The security model explains how names, contents and access are protected, including the limits when a file is visible or has already been shared.
