Require both checks
The additional biometric setting requires a successful manual vault credential followed by Face ID or Touch ID on a supported device. It is a deliberate choice for a vault where you want both a credential and your biometric presence.
The encryption key remains separate from a face scan or fingerprint. Apple’s system biometric check authorizes access; Vaultary does not receive a photograph of your face or a fingerprint template. Apple explains how Face ID data stays private.
Choose the access flow that suits you
| Choice | How it opens | Why choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Additional biometric check | Manual credential, then Face ID or Touch ID. | Require both steps before access. |
| Biometric convenience | Optional biometric access on your device. | Make everyday access quicker. |
Keep recovery separate
Retain the recovery token and a usable encrypted archive. Your recovery plan should remain accessible even when the original device or its biometric access is unavailable.
Protection around the unlocked screen
Vaultary covers its interface when inactive and returns to protected access after the vault locks. A readable export or original left in Photos is a separate copy, so its privacy settings still deserve attention.
